This Free Hugs design comes from Sesame Street, the show that has been teaching letters and numbers on public television since 1969 and has outlasted almost everything that ever shared a schedule with it. Jim Henson built the Muppets who live there, and the mix is the whole trick. Human neighbours on a real-looking brownstone street, a giant yellow bird, a monster in a bin, and a blue creature with no impulse control whatsoever, all treated as equally ordinary.
