This The Costanza design comes from Seinfeld, the NBC series that spent nine seasons proving a sitcom about nothing could be about almost everything. The exterior of Monk cafe is Tom Restaurant on Broadway at 112th Street in Manhattan, a real diner that has been fielding Seinfeld tourists for decades. Vandelay Industries, Kramerica and The Human Fund are all inventions of characters trying to get out of something. The famous description, a show about nothing, is something the series says about itself: in season four George and Jerry pitch exactly that idea to NBC, and the network executives hate it. The show was always happy to explain its own joke and then keep going.

The pilot was called The Seinfeld Chronicles and Elaine was not in it. NBC ordered only four more episodes, the smallest follow-up order in the modern history of the network. Kramer is named for Kenny Kramer, who really did live across the hall from Larry David and who later ran bus tours of Seinfeld locations in New York. This one is printed on a white unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Sizes run deep, with plus sizes and Tall fits on the core tee.
