RoboCop Murphy Split Long Sleeve T-Shirt

This Murphy Split design comes from RoboCop, the 1987 film about a murdered Detroit cop rebuilt as corporate property, sold as an action movie and delivered as satire. Peter Weller trained for months with a mime artist to build the movement, and the suit was so heavy and hot that filming in it was genuinely punishing. RoboCop was released in 1987, directed by Paul Verhoeven, and it is far stranger than its reputation as an action film suggests. Officer Alex Murphy is murdered, rebuilt by a corporation as a product, and spends the film recovering the memory of having been a person.

Paul Verhoeven has described the film as an American Jesus story, with Murphy killed, resurrected and walking on water in the final sequence. The fake commercials cut into the film advertise the 6000 SUX car and a board game called Nukem, and they are doing most of the satirical work.
