A second and very different sheet for Eisenstein's 1925 film, signed by the artist D. Rudeman and titled simply Potemkin for English speaking markets. Where the Soviet poster gives you the battleship head on in flat Constructivist blocks, this one is painted and expressionist: a figure in white standing over a fallen man, everything else burnt orange and black.

The film reached the West in heavily cut and re-scored versions, and different countries saw materially different films, which is part of why its foreign posters vary so wildly in tone. Several were made by artists who had only been told the subject. This one owes far more to German poster design of the period than to anything coming out of Moscow.
