This Future Astronaut design comes from NASA, the agency that has been putting Americans into orbit, onto the Moon and out past the edge of the solar system since 1958. NASA's reach goes well past the Moon — the Space Shuttle flew 135 missions, Apollo-Soyuz shook hands in orbit with the Soviets in 1975, and the Voyager probes are still transmitting from interstellar space decades after launch.

The meatball logo hides real design decisions: the sphere is a planet, the stars are space, the red chevron is an aeronautical wing, and the orbiting ellipse is a spacecraft going around it.
