Robert E. Howard wrote Conan into Weird Tales in 1932 and shot himself four years later at 30. John Milius brought the Cimmerian to screen in 1982 with Arnold's breakout role, James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom, and Basil Poledouris's still-imitated score.
