Set in a crime ridden Detroit Michigan, it is undeniable that RoboCop has amazed a lot of audiences back in 1987 when it was first released in theaters. The story begins with the average Detroit cop named Alex Murphy who, on his first days at a new precinct, was murdered by a group of renegade gangs. The police department, under the private control of mega-corporation OCP (Omni Consumer Products) decided to revive Murphy by turning him into a robotically enhanced and emotionally detached super-cop. And thirty four years after RoboCop was released in theaters, it is still one of the iconic movies of the 80s, producing a number of sequels, offshoots, and spin-offs which continue until this day.
Want some trivia? Did you know that RoboCop exists because Ed Neumeier hated his job? If it hadn't been for this man who got bored and hated his existing job, there wouldn’t be a RoboCop ever. Ed, who works as a story editor for Universal Pictures, conceptualized a robot cop officer. Michael Miner also had the same idea and the two brought their ideas together on a script.
