The Lord of the Rings. It’s an OG fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien that’s become the standard for all stories in the fantasy genre ever since. It’s a classic tale of friendship, love, and an epic of good versus evil – a staple and an irreplaceable entry into the annals of modern mythology. Sauron, one of the Maiar of Tolkien’s other books, sought to envelop Middle Earth in darkness through his orcs and twisted humans. The Fellowship who sought to stop him is represented by the remaining free people of Middle Earth: men, elves, dwarves, and hobbits – a race who loved the quiet and simple life but will never be the same again after four of its sons decide to leave the comfort of their home called the Shire and do good for the rest of the world.
Did you know that Aragorn was a tremendously difficult role to cast in the film? In fact, the role of Aragorn was initially offered to Nicolas Cage but he turned it down because of family obligations. The role then went to Irish actor Stuart Townsend, then finally to Viggo Mortensen who did a great job at portraying the role of Aragorn.
