It is a 1990 American psychological horror drama miniseries based on the 1986 novel by the author Stephen King. The story revolves around the Lucky Seven or The Losers Club, a group of outcast kids who discover Pennywise the Dancing Clown and vow to kill him by any means. The miniseries occurred in two different periods - the first period is when The Losers club first confronted Pennywise as kids in 1960. The second period is when they returned as adults in 1990 to kill him a second time after he reappeared.

The two-part miniseries adaptation of It was released in 1990, just four years after the book was released across America. Screenwriter Larry Cohen shared in an interview that his agent called him and offered to do an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel for ABC. And after reading only 100 pages of the original manuscript, he signed on to discuss the project.
