Isaac Hayes
Isaac Lee Hayes Jr. was more than a jazz performer. He was also an actor and producer as well as an exceptional songwriter. He worked at the famous Stax Records as a producer, writer, and musician but his own works are what stand out. His song Soul Man (co-written by David Porter) is listed as one of the top 50 most influential songs as listed by the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Of course we all remember his score for the movie Shaft (for which he got an Oscar) but he was in front of the camera too with roles in Truck Turner and the classic "m Gonna Get You Sucka. He had a recurring roll in the Rockford Files and voiced Chef in South Park on Comedy Central.
He also did extensive humanitarian work in Ghana and was named the honorary king of the Ada region for it.
