Originally formed in 1964, The Velvet Underground included singer and guitarist Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Angus MacLise. In 1965, MacLise was replaced by Moe Tucker. Their first album, The Velvet Underground & Nico was first released in 1967, but it received poor response at the time. Over the years, the album has often been credited for influencing many other genres of music.
