Комитет государственной безопасности​, AKA Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti, AKA (in English) the Committee for State Security was founded in 1954 and disbanded in 1991, although the new agency apparently still uses the same letters.  Also, a year after they were disbanded a company was founded in New York called kgb (all lower case) that you can text questions to and for $.99 they will send an answer back.  It's also a band from Seattle that plays something called New England style contradance (whatever that is).  

There are some great conspiracy theories out there about the KGB finding an alien and performing an autopsy.  Check it out here.  Why is it every time aliens are involved all the photographic equipment goes to hell?  We now live in an age wherein everyone carries at least a camera phone with them and no one can get a decent photo of a Roswell grey.  I have to believe in aliens as I hope to one day get off this rock.
