During my illustrious career path, I worked at a company that sold toner for fax and copy machines. I can say that The Office has nailed it on the head, from the hot receptionist, the psychotic sales rep, the incompetent former sales rep made manager, and the assorted other bizarre personalities. The one character they missed is the weird credit manager. A credit manager is someone who is supposed to call customers when they don't pay their bills, and often this is a person who is so annoying that people will pay their bills just to keep him from calling them again. Our guy was beyond all this. In addition to to being a horrible personality on the phone, he was also one of the most disgusting human beings I have ever met. Business formal was the company policy, but he wore the same dress shirt all week, untucked, with no tie and suspenders that supported equally overused pants. He was grossly overweight and constantly looked (and smelled) like he had slept in a gutter. Because of him, the company had to adopt a policy (and post signs) of no eating in the men's room. The sales manager used to tell a story about how this guy mid conversation experienced double suspender failure and his pants fell to his ankles. Apparently his underpants defied description. My personal favorite was talking to him on the phone one day and suddenly he said "Umphhh!" When I asked what happened he said "I fell out of my chair." Here is what I imagine it looked like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkZy0LNrCVA
Anyway, because of this experience The Office is near and dear to my heart. I watched the original British version but honestly, it was too grim for me. I love this show and watch it all the time.
