OK time to treat this one right. I am a huge Simpsons fan, and as far as I know except for a short stint in the
Navel Reserve Homer was never in the military.
Grampa Simpson, however, was in the army and served in WWII. His group was called the
Fighting Hellfish, which ironically is the name of a local Warhammer society in the South Bay area, about 40 miles from where I live. I run into them at tournaments once in a while, but since their website has not been updated since October of 2009 I guess they aren't terribly active.
I found this list of actual
Medal of Honor winners and I have to say, reading these descriptions is pretty emotional. First of all, most of these guys are bad ass like no video game character could ever be. There are stories about guys killing dozens of enemy soldiers in the face of certain death. Secondly, a lot of these guys died while earning their medal in truly heroic ways. The one that got me was Pfc. Joe Mann, who was wounded four times and, with both his arms bandaged to his body, threw himself on a grenade to save his comrades lives. Let's just say he was born with the right last name.
Well, for a comedic t-shirt this description got pretty serious. Time to lighten it up a little. I found this
Simpsons intro done in Lego that is pretty impressive, especially if the poster's claim is true and he did this at age 13. At 13 I was still building
Tamiya tanks and trying to figure out a way to get to school that didn't involve riding on the worst
school bus in the history of education.
I found a page of some pretty good
Simpsons look alikes. Not bad. Bart does indeed look like the state of
Mississippi.
Not coming up with gold. I think that list of MoH winners kind of sobered me up. I'll let it sit here and probably come back some time later.
