I didn't actually watch this much as s kid, mostly because daytime TV was firmly occupied by my mother's soap operas. However, as a teenager I would watch it once in a while as a laugh. Like I said before, Oscar the Grouch is my favorite character (incidentally, there is indeed a band named Oscar the Grouch. Hip hop, I think), but my favorite treatment of a Sesame Street character will always be Bert, from Bert and Ernie, due to the massively cool Bert is Evil website. My favorite has to be the original Tickle Me Elmo, known then as Shoot Me Up Elmo. Check it out.

By the way, there is a reasonably good chance I only brought in these Sesame Street shirts so I could link that page. Who knows what really motivates us?

I found out that if you buy the DvD set of Sesame street the first two volumes are considered for adults only. Not for any porno reason, but because kids today are apparently more sensitive than kids on 1969. The original cookie monster was seen holding a pipe (which he eats) and Oscar was even more miserable, if that's possible.

I found some weird Sesame Street trivia. Apparently the band Green Day (I was a fan in the old Kerplunk days) came up with their name when they heard Ernie say "It's a green day." Sesame Street was banned on the BBC in 1971 (that is a mark of distinction, in my mind). I found one of the weirdest Sesame Street cartoons featuring Frankenstein here.
