So far everyone I have asked has had not a clue who Rat Fink is. Sometimes I weep for the state of American culture.
Rat Fink is the icon of Kustom Kulture, the hot rod society of the 1950s. He was created by the great
Big Daddy Roth. What I love is his creation of Rat Fink stemmed from his burning hatred of
Mickey Mouse. This guy started showing up on cars, and eventually turned into a comic strip.
Unfortunately, while I love Big Daddy, one of his compatriots was Von Dutch (Kenny Howard). I don't have anything against Von Dutch the man, but his signature was the tool that gave French anti-fashion designer
Christian Augigier his major start and bombarded America with a plague of overpriced t shirts that we still see in its current configuration, Ed Hardy.
Anyway, Rat Fink is cool, and if you know it enough to order one I would have to say you have pretty good taste.
