I have said it before, I am a sucker for any t shirt with Japanese writing on it. However, there is no movie t shirt that deserves it more than Godzilla. For the number of times that
Godzilla destroyed poor Tokyo it should be illegal for anything Godzilla related to be written in any other language.
Ok, sorry about that last clip. I couldn't resist. Here is the real clip from the
1954 Godzilla. Actually, in spite of being labeled 1954 this clip appears to show Raymond Burr, but Burr was in the 1955 Godzilla, King of the Monsters. YouTube, you fail me again.
By they way, Raymond Burr would later reappear in Godzilla 1985 and win a
Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor. Nice work.
Godzilla was also indirectly the inspiration for one of my all time favorite rock videos,
Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys. If you only saw it on MTV or whatever network actually shows music videos on TV watch this one. It is slightly extended.
Anyway, I have always wanted to kick the hell out of a major city. I had a script I wrote for a film project in college that never got off the ground that involved me fighting a giant robot in the middle of downtown Los Angeles (with associated civic destruction). Too much imagination and not enough budget is a terrible curse.
In case you were wondering, Godzilla was called Gojira in Japan. The genre of giant monster films is called kaiju. If I can find enough movie t shirts I would consider adding a Kaiju category, but I can't do it just for Godzilla.
