I've encountered some negative reaction at the gaming conventions to this shirt. I guess
D&D 4th Ed met with some negative reaction. On the other hand, it could just be the people who don't like it are the most likely to bitch about it. Nerds love nothing better than something new to hate (god knows I do) so this totally makes sense to me.
Here is a
forum post where some guy talks about some of the reasons why it sucks. I"m kind of going through the same thing right now, as Warhammer Fantasy Battle recently released 8th edition and like most experienced players am having my issues with the changes. Actually, when I say changes really I should say new game, as they have really butchered the most important parts of the game to make it more appealing to moronic 12 year old's.
Wow. I totally sound like that guy.
I guess WotC (a fan of this genre should know what that stands for) came out with a couple of animated shorts to talk about the changes. This one starts out looking kind of dumb but actually gets pretty funny by the end. It's about a
Tiefling and a Gnome. Here's another where a
Mindflayer interviewing his victims to see if he wants to eat them or enslave them. Also pretty funny, and you get to see the Gnome resurface.
Actually, this
Beholder interview is probably my favorite, if only because I faced any number of these guys back in the day. I am finding myself pleasantly surprised that I am enjoying these. I guess you can't judge a video by it's thumbnail.
This is kind of cool. It's a
Dungeons and Dragons podcast. I have some friends down in LA that do the same thing for Warhammer. I'd link their site, but they also do 40K and since 8th edition seems very very 40K-ish I am feeling petty and vindictive about 40K. Also, I can't remember their URL and can't seem to find it. I'll see them next month at the SoCal tournament and will get it then.
