Normally guys as pretty as Johnny Depp bug the hell out of me, but he is in his own way pretty cool. He is great in most everything, although the singing in Sweeney Todd kind of sucked. I even liked him in Benny and Joon, an weirdly fun movie.
They thing I love about Cry Baby that a lot of people forget is it is a John Waters film. For those of you who aren't aging form art student, John Waters is one of the weirdest and most prolific filmmakers out there. He did Pecker and Hairspray, which most of you have probably heard of, but if you want to true "John Waters experience" and have both a strong stomach and a desire to see the surreal watch Pink Flamingos. I"m not kidding about the strong stomach, by the way. This is probably the weirdest mainstream(ish) film you will ever see, unless you have watched City of Lost Children. There isn't much French that I like, but some of the French cinema is exceptionally good.
I used to sell Pink Flamingos t shirts back in the day, but they never sold well. I guess people don't want a picture of Divine on their chest. Go figure.
In those days this shirt was a huge seller, so I am bringing it to my site for the women. If it does well I have a couple others on deck I will probably bring in.
Another cool thing about this shirt is it also stars an old fav of mine, Iggy Pop, and former porn star-turned-legitimate actress Traci Lords. |
