This business was the original business started in 1953 by grandpa Bluth. It was located on
Balboa Island in
Newport Beach, a snobby, overpriced beach community I ended up spending way too much time in during college. According to one reviewer on
Chowhound Balboa Island is "
a seething pit of tourist traps, money holes, and traffic jams." I would have to agree with that statement, although I haven't been there in years, so who knows? Never struck me as the kind of place where change happens often, however.
Anyway, if you are into touristy stuff than you should spend some time there. The weather and beaches are amazing. You can learn more about it
here.
So this is where
George Michael had to get a job. It also inspired some people in
Austin, Texas to create
Bananarchy, a really weird banana stand. I almost hesitate to link them, but I'll take the chance.
If you have never been to Austin, it is definitely the
coolest and weirdest city not only in Texas but in most of the South. It is like the
San Francisco of Texas. They take pride in their weirdness, as the famous
Keep Austin Weird campaign shows. I highly recommend visiting it.
Anyway, this shirt is pretty good. Would make a great
Halloween costume. I always wanted to dress up as a
Hot Dog on a Stick girl for Halloween (
the idea of a 6'5" guy in one of those outfits still makes me laugh).
