Description
This shirt is an old friend of mine. Let's just say I drew a lot of anarchy symbols in notebooks through high school and college. At one time, while considering what to get for my first tattoo, this symbol appeared on my list.
The funny thing is, while I loved the symbol and the idea behind it, in retrospect had I really understood what anarchy meant I would have realized it was the worst idea possible. In fact, it is simply a selfish way of saying you don't want to do anything for society and are content to let the rest of the world rot as long as you have your own needs covered.
I know it's not as simple as that, but the fun aspects of anarchy (rioting, looting, burning stuff, etc) really can't function without a structured society as a backdrop. If you are a bucket of water in a swimming pool than you can't do much. If you are a bucket of water in a young boy's hands right after he discovered his dad had fallen asleep in bed with a lit cigarette and set it on fire, than it can have a lot of impact (true story, by the way). Anarchy for anarchy's sake is worthless. Anarchy in the face of oppression is something, although ironically it turns into something constructive at that point and is no longer anarchy.
Enough of the political crap. Let's talk instead about
the Sons of Anarchy
, the FX tv show about a biker gang. I have had a number of people tell me I should consider bringing these shirts in, even though I have never seen the show myself. I see now the show has Ron Perlman, the actor who played Hellboy. Say what you will about the movie, I thought he pulled the roll off brilliantly. I also see Katie Segal is in it. You may well remember her as Peg Bundy from Married with Children, or more recently as the voice of Turanga Leela in the brilliant cartoon Futurama. I think I am going to have to watch this damn show.
Of course, you know I can't talk about a biker gang show without showing some
stupid motorcycle crashes
. That one was funny but here is another one where two crotch rocket morons
run into each other
. It is to laugh. Finally here is one where a Tron looking idiot
lays down his brand new motorcycle
.
I think that's it. I could go into some of my punk rock days but I think that is funnier when I do it for one of the more wholesome shirts. I hear my dinner calling me.
